YC's Accomplishments

There is a wide variety of tasks that need to be done to keep our organization operating successfully. In the mix of all that has transpired over the last year, there have been some real standout moments. The following performance indicators are a checklist of accomplishments that have been achieved during the 2017-2018 school year by both staff and students. 

1. Remodeled and updated Elementary School.

2. Built two of the first monolithic dome school buildings in Oregon. Construction continues and we regularly share that progress here on Facebook and our other social media channels (budget is outlined on our district website for your convenience). 

3. Managed on campus construction site with no student injuries.

4. New 5 year plan created and shared publicly.

5. Brought Payroll and Accounts Payable services back from ESD to YCSD. This is a huge benefit to our staff. 

6. Updated the graphical image of the YC district by creating a new set of logos and confirming a style guide for the district (all schools and offices)--giving our district a fresh, updated look!

7. School Board completed OSBA training and a project that earned a $5,000 scholarship for students. 

8. Regional recognition for our work on PAX and becoming a PAX-wide school (YC Elementary). 

9. Received a grant for Oregon RTI project, began building RTl system, K-6.

10. Average 10-15% increase in DIBELS scores per grade-level.

11. 5 YCIS Teams qualified for the Regional GeoChallenge Competition in California and one team won it finishing in the top 5 in the Nation!

- Honorable Mention in Chemistry (5th graders) 
- Honorable Mention in Engineering Mechanical (7th graders)
- 3rd in Environmental Science (8th grader)
- Honorable Mention in Physics Mechanical (6th grader)

13. 7 students attended an International Trip to Dominican Republic for Service and Learning. 

14. Technical theater roles (sound, lights, stage management) were accomplished by students successfully during student theater productions of
Charlotte’s Web, Aladdin, and during Student of the Month Assemblies.

15. Oregon Small School Teacher of the Year (YCHS).

16. Added Rocketry and Engineering CTE Program of study (YCHS).

17. Added Culinary CTE Program of Study (YCHS).

18. Beat the state in most measurable academic categories (see charts below) (YCHS).

19. Veterans Legacy work (project to interview and record the oral history of our local veterans - focusing on WWII).

20. More and WP Credit than last year (Bio, Chem, Spanish, Math, LA). 176 college credits earned by 23 students through Chemeketa CC (YCHS).

21. Agile Learning Modeling (YCHS).

22. Added Freshman Success Classes (YCHS).

23. Graduation rate of 83% (YCHS).

24. Graduating seniors awarded 1.7 million dollars in scholarships!

25. State qualifying teams in High School Girls Soccer, Girls Basketball, and Softball.

26. One runner qualified for the state cross country meet!

27. Four wrestlers qualified for the state tournament.

28. Seven students qualified for state track.

29. 6 students committed to competing in their respective sport at the collegiate level.
